One of the benefits of an agile project is that monitoring is shared.
This is a benefit whilst at the same time a concern, especially to senior management. There is a natural immediate cautiousness over an approach which allows team members to plan deliver and monitor their own work.
However, the team itself will identify its daily pain points, dependencies and immediate status.
There is little need to be concerned that this process creates any distance between the project team members as all this information will be shared at the Daily Forum.
However, the team cannot deliver and support all the demands of the project team. Escalations, for example, will be performed on behalf of the team and any blockages or hindrances removed.
There are important ancillary management tasks to be performed as well as leadership and motivation to be provided to ensure the team behaves correctly.
