Consider whether you need a pre-workshop meeting. This meeting might be with specific individuals or with a group of workshop participants. There may be something specific you wish to uncover debate with them, before the workshop. It might be that certain participants require an overview of the facilitation process and, if they have been to a workshop before, the process of the workshop.

You may wish to perform a one-to-one interview for certain participants. This might be because of their seniority or might be because they are one of the participants who are likely to introduce some anarchy or chaos to the workshop proceedings. As we said before, it is best to uncover these things early and to pass on your conclusions to the workshop owner.

You will seriously consider the preparation and delivery of participant handouts describing the process and the approach, whilst also seeking their agreement to the workshop objectives. Again, this is a belt and braces technique to minimise future problems on the day of the workshop.
